Bulgogi - Korean Recipes to Marinated BBQ Meat



Bulgogi which means fried meat, is one dish you will fall in love with and include in your must have Korean recipes. This traditional (signature) Korean food originated during the 'Gogurjeo era' (37 B.C. - 668 A.D).

This dish is normally a marinated barbecued beef but chicken or pork can also be used. Originally called 'Maekjeok', bulgogi is normally cooked over an open fire and can be grilled over an open flame on a skewer. Bulgogi is traditionally grilled. Garlic, onions, green peppers are often grilled or fried with selected meat. Dark Bulgogi is made with chicken and Dwaeji Bulgogi is made with pork.



How to Make Korean Bulgogi...

Ingredients:

  • 1lb. of thinly sliced beef (sirloin or ribeye)
  • 5tbs of Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup of Soy Sauce
  • 2 small Clove of Garlic (Peeled & finely chopped)
  • 1/4 ts Salt
  • 1 tbs of Sesame Seed Oil
  • 2 tbs of Toasted Sesame Seeds
  • 1 Cup of Split Green Onions
  • 2 Cups of thinly sliced Carrots

Instructions:

  • Mix all ingredients in a bowl, with the exception of the carrots. Marinate int the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
  • Cook over medium high heat, until meat is just short of desired completion. Such as, medium rare, medium, etc.
  • Add carrots and cook for an additional 3 minutes
  • Serve with rice
