Summer Is The Time To Hit The Beach!

Summer in South Korea is one of the favorite season for tourists but it can be hot and humid! This is probably not the best season for traveling as it tends to be the wettest time of the year.

You can expect heavy rain towards June and will usually last for about a month and this short spurt of rainfall during this period is referred to as 'jangma'.

This is one of the most important causes of flood as the streams and rivers in all of South Korea are overfilled.

On the other side, this type of weather is essential for the adequate growth of rice and any change might lead to the failure of the crop. The cause for the heavier precipitation at this time of the year is the East Asian monsoon.

The temperature in August ranges from 22 to 28 degrees celsius. Occasionally it exceed 30 degrees and then it becomes quite uncomfortable as the weather can get very humid and hot especially in July and August.

One can sometimes expect two to three typhoons to hit the country during this period of time. Because more than 50 percent of the annual precipitation comes in summer, the monsoon season with its heavy rain will usually last for about a month in June.

In general, this season in South Korea is hot and occasionally wet and usually last for about four months. It is interesting to observe that temperature in South Korea varies more between the inland and coast rather the North and South.
